Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I'll try to be honest here. I liked this book (and entire series) the first time I read it. After about 1 year I decided to read them again. Only then did I realize how terrible the message of this book is. Edward stalks Bella, watches her sleep and wants to kill her, yet for some reason it is....... romantic? I was duped by it the first time I read it, just like a lot of others. Only after did I realize how strange it all is.
Edward is a vampire (duh) and Bella is the love of his life/ food that you REALLY want to eat but can't because you're on a diet... and in love with the food. Weird. Edward is mysterious and Bella is constantly trying to figure out what his deal is. That is basically the entire book.
"What is your problem?"
"Some strange comment that makes me sound more mysterious."
I'm exaggerating a little but that makes up for a lot of the conversations.
I also don't like how EVERYTHING is explained in so much detail. I don't care what Bella had for breakfast, I really don't.

I didn't know this article existed on NPR but now that I do, I suggest you read it. They make fun of Stephenie Meyer's writing ability (or lack of) and it's hilarious.
