Fifty Shades of Grey by E L James

Description
When literature student Anastasia Steele goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. The unworldly, innocent Ana is startled to realize she want this man and, despite his enigmatic reserve, finds she is deperate to get close to him. Unable to resist Ana's quiet beauty, wit, and independent spirit, Grey admits he wants her, too--but on his own terms.

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings for success--his multinational businesses, his vest wealth, his loving family--Grey is a man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a daring, passionately physical affair, Ana discovers Christian Grey's secrets and explores her own dark desires.

Christian Grey has a unnatural need to control the person he is sleeping with--Ana is a virgin who has never even really dated a man. The two compliment each other, but Christian is not ready to back down. His needs include whipping, spanking, tying up, and much much more when it comes to the bedroom but, he doesn't just want to control women in bed. Grey insists Ana only buys and wears clothes that he approves and with his money, she must see a trainer, and much more. Ana pushes Grey to the edge with her attitude and her own demands.

It is a kind of book that you can't seem to put down until you have completely finished it. You want to get to the end and see what happens, that it tends to consume you. I plan on reading the rest of the trilogy to see where they end up. All in all it's a good book

  1. I had high expectations from this book,as it featured in the bestseller list. But after reading through first fifty pages or so,it seemed nothing but a teenager's fantasy about her dream man.

Now,the sex scenes.Well, they become so unbelievable that it becomes more laughable than erotic. He simply touches her and she orgasms. It seems that she's climaxing on every page.

Even the writing is monotonous and repetitive. There is more than frequent use of "geez","shades of" etc.

Well, many of you might disagree but when i compare this one with heat and dust or sleeping beauty,it is way behind those standards.

    1. I refused to read it just because it's Twilight fan fiction so I can't really say anything about the writing itself (I'm sure I would have more than a few complaints). But my cousin is in to the romance type novels so I'm glad she wanted to review it. It saved me from having to. :)
